    Louis raised his eyebrow and clicked his tongue, almost as if to emphasize: See, who I picked. Aren’t you fascinated by him, too?

    It’s 1973 in San Francisco and Daniel is at the peak of his life. Realistically speaking, since he probably won’t live for that long.

    But being hot and honest and cruel can bring you a long way, if you’re okay with dropping some of the morals your mother instilled within you.

    It can also lead you right to the vampires, who never had mothers to instill morals in them. Or maybe they did. Daniel had never asked about that.

    Or: When the genre is supposed to be horror, but the characters pretend it’s a drug-induced and kinky romcom.

    *Armand joins Daniel and Louis for their night at Divisadero Street. What follows are six nights full of desperation and desire between them and the aftermath that is Daniel and Armand in their obsession for each other*

    Strange, Armand thought, that it had been Louis who told him. Granted, Louis had been following Daniel's career since 1973, but it felt wrong that Armand hadn't known first. He had grown so accustomed to feigning surprise when Louis gave him these updates that he didn't know how to appropriately mask his emotions when the news truly was surprising.

    "Daniel Molloy just got married."

    Daniel sees life like a river. Thinks he is caught up in a current that only goes one way, that will eventually sweep him out to sea. It’s easier for him to think so. It keeps him alive to think so.

    He doesn’t know that he could stand up and reach the bottom. He doesn’t know he has a choice.

    Drugs don’t work, sex doesn’t work, New York hasn’t worked. Somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains, an improbable number of suicides have taken place. Somewhere in a bar in New York, Daniel hears about them. He wants to fill a void. The difference between what is real and what isn’t matters as little to him as the things he’ll find to throw into the darkness. Which, as it turns out, is quite a lot.

    It’s been some time since Daniel and Armand decided to share their lifetimes. Sometimes, Daniel’s treacherous mind gives him stupid ideas about not being sexy enough for Armand. Armand lets him know just how desired he is.
