Supposedly, the vampire can only be freed by the magic of a soul bond, but Alastor knows better. He doesn't believe in soulmates, but he knows he is powerful and clever enough to break the lock on this prison anyway.

Summary
Alastor realizes he gets away with murder too easily and he has a gut feeling there's more to it than dumb luck. He's proven right when he does his best to get caught and someone, or rather something, answers his taunt.
It turns out Alastor has his own guardian angel, who goes by the name Lucifer, like the Devil. This enigmatic, somewhat biblically accurate angel with too many eyes appears to chew him out about leaving too much evidence. Apparently, all this time, he's been cleaning up after Alastor for reasons that are a bit unclear.
Alastor, against his best wishes, is attracted to his own personal monster. He deals with it the only way he knows how: by sharpening his shame into a weapon to kill Lucifer with.
