Dangerous agentess stalks evil enemy agent, murderous and ready to pounce... no wait, is she actually under his mind control? ...And does it matter if both end up having fun on the kitchen table anyway?
This is the fluffiest of this Ingress series, therefore took the longest to write. :D
Reasonably accessible also to readers unfamiliar with the game. It's about technical alien gadgets (portals) that when connected to each other in a certain way generate mind control fields over an area.

Ok not quite. This is a universe of shapeshifters with a main form and a human form, which can communicate through a thing (mielinkäinen) that looks like telepathy. But they didn't evolve from ponies, they evolved from space dragons. Yes, you heard me. SPACE DRAGONS. Let that sink in for a while.
But the reason why I'd re-read this is because it has nice strong adversaries. Yum yum.

Knowing now firsthand what it felt like to wake up tied to a bed, not knowing what your captor’s plans were… Harold was stunned by just how monumentally stupid the idea had always been.
And for Reese -- how much worse? Harold could imagine scenarios, but Reese had lived them. That panic in his eyes... Harold had subjected him to that.
“I must apologize,” he said, his throat tight. “I didn’t... think through… the implications. I was a little desperate at the time, but that’s certainly no excuse.”
“A trained assassin on the run, judgment and impulse control impaired by alcohol. You have any idea how dangerous that was, Harold?”
