The room’s silence, once comforting, became a suffocating weight in an instant. The sun was just barely peeking out of the window and illuminated the room just enough for Jesper to utilize to rumage through their chest of clothes, trying to find another shirt to wear. This was supposed to be one of their quiet days; where they woke up before dawn instead of greeting an annoyed Kaz at their door, enjoying each other’s quiet company as he blinked the tiredness out of his eyes and Jesper got dressed enough to take them both down the street for some tea.
Instead, Wylan had to ruin it all by opening his mouth.

“Wylan Van Eck,” Jesper began, looking up into endless blue eyes that were welling up with realization. “Will you marry me?”
“WHAT?!” was Wylan’s response. Jesper saw most of their team freeze as Jesper’s question reached their ears. “I don’t think now is the best time, Jesper!”
“Now might be the only time!” Jesper tried to reason. “I’m not sure if any of us, much less all of us, are making it out tonight. And I want to call you my fiance before I die, if you’ll let me.” Jesper stood up, taking Wylan’s hand and looking into his eyes with hope.
Wylan stared back, with that calculating look he always got before making a wild decision. Scheming face, Ghezen he looked too much like Kaz sometimes. His lips parted, then closed as he looked down to the ring still in Jesper’s hand. Without another word, he slipped it onto his finger and opened his mouth to speak. He turned away and Jesper only just caught it, that prideful tilt he gets in his brow when he was about one up Jesper.
“INEJ,” Wylan shouted to helm. “MARRY US!”
“I’M A LITTLE BUSY AT THE MOMENT!!”

“Alright, as much as I would love to spend more time with you, we both need to get some sleep.” If Jesper told anyone that he was the voice of reason here, they probably wouldn’t believe him.
“Yeah, you’re right,” Wylan admitted sheepishly before he rose to the balls of his feet to press a gentle kiss to Jesper’s cheek. “Text me when you get home, Jes.”
“I—” Jesper was actually speechless for a moment, so taken aback by the boldness Wylan had just displayed, that made his cheek heat up, while he swore he could still feel Wylan’s lips linger there. “Will do,” he eventually managed, a smile on his lips that stayed there all the way home.Three dates that left Jesper very happy until a little miscommunication - or rather no communication - seemed to destroy everything they'd built up to.
W: But yeah so I kinda have a crush on you
