Summary
La detective más famosa de Corea, una misteriosa mujer que se hace llamar IRENE, se encuentra en un parque de atracciones junto a su hijo de siete años, JungKook. Allí, después de resolver un nuevo caso, se separa de su hijo y presencia un intercambio sospechoso entre uno de los hombres vestidos de negro que estaba presente en el caso anterior y un hombre misterioso. Mientras los espía, Bae JooHyun (IRENE) es atacada por la espalda por el compañero del hombre de negro, y le administran un veneno con el fin de matarla. Sin embargo, el veneno tuvo un efecto inesperado y únicamente cae en coma.
Ahora, es deber del hijo que presenció todo investigar mientras intenta ocultar su verdadera identidad con tal de protegerse de los Hombres de negro. El joven detective se traslada a la casa de un estudiante de preparatoria llamado NamJoon y su padre: el fracasado investigador privado Gong JiChul (Gong Yoo). Ninguno de ellos sabe quién es JungKook o de dónde proviene, y éste utilizará todo lo que sabe para resolver los casos del propio Gong Yoo en su nombre y sin que nadie lo sepa.

Summary
Korea's most famous detective, a mysterious woman who calls herself IRENE, finds herself in an amusement park with her seven-year-old son, JungKook. There, after solving a new case, she is separated from her son and witnesses a suspicious exchange between one of the men dressed in black who was present in the previous case and a mysterious man. While spying on them, Bae JooHyun (IRENE) is attacked from behind by the companion of the man in black and is administered a poison to kill her. However, the poison has an unexpected effect and she only falls into a coma.
Now, it is the son's duty to investigate as he tries to hide his true identity to protect himself from the Men in Black. The young detective moves into the home of a high school student named NamJoon and his father: failed detective Gong JiChul (Gong Yoo). Neither of them knows who or where JungKook came from, and JungKook will use everything he knows to solve Gong Yoo's cases on their behalf and without anyone knowing.
