Summary
((SPOILERS THROUGH ACT 3))
“It would seem our guardians are sloppy,” Shadowheart snarled, “since you have the energy to still cast spells.”
The blade withdrew, and the prisoner’s breathing slowed - her blood, just as red and warm as Shadowheart’s own, pooled beneath her and slowly dripped off of the table onto the purple marble floor.
“Your name,” Shadowheart snapped again.
The prisoner hesitated.
“Lae’zel,” she said.
--
Shadowheart's triumphant return with the Githyanki artefact is muted by a lukewarm reception - in her absence, apparently, the cloister had taken heavy losses from an apparent Githyanki assault. When the acolytes capture a Githyanki, they assign Shadowheart with ripping the truth from her lips.
But something's wrong. The Githyanki seems... familiar, somehow. The Githyanki seems to know her in a way that's impossible - in a way that she can't remember being true.

Summary
"No matter how desperate I get," Shadowheart says through gritted teeth, "I'm not that desperate."
But her body is betraying her. It's responding to Lae'zel's suggestion, rising like a well-stoked fire, and Lae'zel lowers herself to the ground near Shadowheart's feet. Shadowheart's legs shift to accommodate her in an instinct so bone-deep that she can't stop it before Lae'zel is filling the space.
"Give in to your desires, istik. Submit to me. In my experience," Lae'zel says, crawling slowly up Shadowheart's willing body, "the hatred will only make it sweeter."
And then Shadowheart is being kissed so thoroughly that she forgets her own name.
OR
Shadowheart doesn't know much about her past, or her future, or even who she is beyond what Shar asks of her. But she knows one thing. She hates Lae'zel. She hates her so much that the gith hardly leaves her mind, and there's nothing that could possibly change that.
A tale of misplaced hatred, building trust, and finding new purpose.

Summary
“What will you do in a world without Vlaakith?” Shadowheart had asked. Lae’zel still did not have an answer.
After years of fighting for her people's freedom from Vlaakith, Lae'zel has done it. Her people are free, the true prince is restored, and she is on her way to legend status among the children of Gith. So why does she feel so... empty?
A post-canon Lae'zel character study, chronicling her journey home.
(& of course there's Shadowzel I'm so weak for these two)

Summary
“If you listened when I spoke instead of fantasizing about your dragon-riding days, you would know that those eggs are for your son’s favorite cake,” Shadowheart says, stirring her soup far harder than she has to. “When he asks for it first thing after walking through the door, as he always does, I’ll be sure to tell him that his amya thought it far more important to sweep the grounds for Vlaakith’s nonexistent assassins. Again.”
------------------------------
Shadowheart and Lae'zel have raised Xan, the gith egg, into a fine young man. Years post-canon, he's bringing home his first boyfriend for their approval. And that's something Lae'zel is hard-pressed to give.

Summary
After a particularly perilous fight that leaves Shadowheart far too close to death for comfort, she comes to a decision.
An idiotic, unthinkably painful decision, but a path forward, nonetheless.
She needs to become better at physical combat, fast.
And, fortunately or unfortunately, she has recently made a tentative 'truce' with an obnoxious yet admittedly adept Gith Warrior who for some ungodly reason seems to always erect her tent right across from her own.
Well. Let's see if Githyanki can be trusted on their word. Or, even better...coerced into a mutually beneficial arrangement. She's certain there's something she could offer the Gith. Twist to her advantage. If this could also make Lae'zel more bearable, all the better for her.
Lady of Sorrows guide her. How badly could this go?
