In the height of the AIDs epidemic, Dean works for the Russian Mafia. He suddenly gets more responsibility thrown on him when the family asks him to partner with the youngest son, Castiel, who doesn't seem too happy with Dean's new job of babysitting him. He socailly inept and has violent tendencies, and Dean is really starting to regret agreeing to work with him.

Sam jerks back in surprise, glancing around until he catches a glimpse of a metal hook, hanging right by his head. He peers at it, trying to make out his warped reflection in the dull meta—
No.
Oh, God, no.
Sam raises a trembling hand to his face, trailing it towards the pools of inky darkness where his eyes should be, shifting and swirling with depth like a nest of shadows. The sight of it is so—so monstrous, so wrong, and Sam can’t even recognise himself in it.
This can’t—this can’t be real.
As he stares at the monster wearing his face, not even daring to blink, the darkness leaks out of his eyes, leaving their normal hazel. But even in the absence of that otherworldly blackness, he can still see it, the monster, lurking behind a young face and innocent eyes.
Sam's powers manifest earlier. John doesn't take too kindly to it.
