Summary
Tim hadn't been out on patrol since Red Hood showed up. He'd hardly stepped foot in the Batcave since then. So, fine. He didn't have to help out as Robin. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn't completely useless outside of the suit. He had plenty of other ways to help out with the Red Hood situation.
Primarily, he had a kick-ass resume and a strong work ethic.Or.
Tim gets sick of getting pushed to the side and decides to get a job working for Red Hood to gather information. His best plan? Probably not. But it definitely got results.

Tim’s pelt was supposed to stay in the safe behind the big painting in the middle of the second-story corridor. Close enough to him that he wouldn’t get shaky and lightheaded as long as he stayed in Gotham.
He was supposed to keep it in the vault, hidden and secure. He was not supposed to pull it on and actually use it.
Because a selkie skin wasn’t meant to be worn and Tim wasn’t meant to take the shape of an animal. His pelt was just an unfortunate side effect of his genetics.Or.
Tim uses his pelt in ways his parents and Bruce would not approve of, and things go sideways real fast.

It's been nine months since Bruce found Tim and took his pelt, forcing him to live on land as a human, even though Tim is not a human. Tim still hears the call of the ocean in his head and he hears the buzz of the electric light bulbs and the creaks in the walls and floors of Wayne Manor. And it was all so loud and buzzing and roaring and he couldn't take it anymore. So he ran.

Hunter couldn’t breathe.
It all hit him at once, as though he hadn’t taken a beating already in his uncle’s mind. Grimwalkers. The dozens--probably hundreds--of Golden Guards who had come before him, all killed by Belos’ hand. And-- and he knew Hunter and Luz had seen it. He knew they had been running around in his mind.
Titan! Had his lungs always been this small? He could barely take in a full breath, the little air he could get flooding his head and making him feel dizzy.
“He-He knows we were in there,” he said, more to himself than to anyone else. “I-I can’t go back!” And saying it aloud only made it sink in more, only made his chest feel tighter and his heart pound harder.
“Kid, breathe.”
Hunter’s head snapped up, his eyes meeting the Owl Lady’s, her hand extended out to him.
It took him by surprise, and he jerked away from it. Legs shaking under him, he pushed himself to his feet.

4. Kill Sidious and save the galaxy (again)

The girl narrows her eyes. “Your movement can go rot,” she says. “You’re not going to tell me your name? Fine. Second question. What the hell have you done with Anakin Skywalker?”

Or - Luke Skywalker, hero of the Rebel Alliance, minutes after learning his true parentage, wakes up in a strange place, full of strange people. Ahsoka's mission, meanwhile, has just gone up in flames after a pro-Separatist rebellion kidnaps Anakin as part of a gambit to negotiate an end to their planet's civil war. Misunderstandings ensue.

Inspired by Ursula K Le Guin’s book Changing Planes, specifically the chapter “The Fliers of Gy," where there's humanoids who spend a feverish year growing wings starting at age 18-19. HIGHLY recommend the book and chapter.
