Summary
When circumstances on his home planet force him into self-imposed exile, the being now known as Stede Bonnet flees to a remote corner of the cosmos to make a new life for himself as a human pirate captain on a charming little planet called Earth.
Things do not go as planned.
This story is set in canon-era and follows many (but not all) of the same beats as the show—except that Stede is secretly an alien the entire time.

Summary
Edward Teach is a famous ocean explorer/documentarian. However, the passion he once felt for his work has dulled. Semi-retired, he continues his career as a scuba diving instructor, all the while navigating his changing personal relationships. Ed has faced numerous extreme physical challenges but nothing has been more difficult than finding connection.
Stede Bonnet is a divorced ichthyologist. After years of working with museum specimens, Stede hungers for the sense of wonder that he had when he was young. Making some friends would be nice, as well. At the behest of his ex-wife, Stede decides to sign up for a scuba certification course.
