Summary
Evernight only ever saw herself as a failsafe since manifesting from March 7th’s desires. This body, March 7th’s body, is not hers, nor is it her life to live. Instead, Evernight is a guardian, a protector, a mere watcher from the shadows that brings destruction in her wake. She’s supposed to fade into the background, undisturbed and forgotten until she’s needed once more. March 7th and her dearest companions, however, have other ideas.

“Rumi,” Zoey’s voice is impossibly soft, “why wouldn’t I tell you that you’re good?”
Rumi shrugs, feeling raw and exposed in the way she always does after kneeling for them.
