    Isekai is a bit of a contentious genre, but isn't that a bunch of what we look for in HP fics? A way to put ourselves into the narrative that we loved when we were younger, yet feels... uncomfortable when we look back on it?

    Somebody got hit by truck-kun, savvy to HP. Rather than being Harry or Hermione, they are shunted into Ginny Weasley.

    A tired young voice, sounding male and a little hoarse, spoke behind me. “Ginny, you’ve got to go, get out of here… Ginny?”

    I’d sat up and moved with such swiftness that perhaps caused the boy’s words to drift off. Then my hands were on his face, pushing his hair up to take in the scar, my gaze moved down to meet his famously green eyes that hadn’t been in the movies. Harry freakin’ Potter, and a glance around what must be the Chamber of Secrets showed an enormous dead snake and a pool of ink around a punctured book.

    My eyes went back to Harry and saw my small delicate hands still touching his face, grimy though they were, the hands of an eleven year old Ginny Weasley.

    “Well fuck me.” I muttered, barely noticing Harry’s shock at my language
