Tommy may seem harmless at first glance, but Phil and Techno know otherwise. To be a gemsmith, a person who connects soulmates, is not a profession for those who are docile.
But Tommy is intriguing at first glance. Always talking, always moving, always challenging them. So they stick around. Not too long though, they have two other soulmates to find, but long enough to develop their relationship beyond customer and shopkeeper.
If only they realized why they were developing this relationship in the first place before the Hunters came knocking on Tommy’s shop.

Tommy turned around, arms slung around Wilbur’s neck. He murmured something unintelligible.
“What’s that, darling?” Wilbur whispered into the child’s ear.
“Mm hungry Wilby…”
“Awe, Toms. I can get you something to eat,” Wilbur played along, happy to play a part in steering his dream.
“That would be nice…” Tommy slurred. “Thank you, Wilby. I love you.”
Wilbur chuckled, his heart warm with the words. “Love you too, sunshine.”—----
Or,A month later, Wilbur still remembers the yellow roses Tommy gave him. He hopes to repay Tommy some day, with a gift of his own.

It’s something that’s hard to put into words, because words just never seem enough to express that. Words can never be worthy of such powerful love. It was shown through action. Through something delicate and beautiful.
