On the 21st November 2023, Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish was killed in action in the Eurotunnel, 7km off the coast of Folkestone.
Except the heavily redacted report is all a lie and the emotional scattering of his ashes is all an act.
This is the story of how he survives, how the 141 fake his death, and how he recovers - with Ghost right by his side.
A realistic fic about Soap recovering from a traumatic brain injury and discovering which parts of himself are left, and which parts Makarov stole from him. Full of hurt and comfort, angst and humour, this is a slow burn Ghost/Soap getting together fic with a happy ending.

Soap is good at a lot of things, but one place he's always struggled is in the kitchen. After numerous failures by his family to help him get a handle on things in the kitchen, and a close call involving the fire brigade, he's gifted cooking lessons for his birthday--much to his great embarrassment.
But if there's one thing you can say about Soap, he's not a quitter, and despite his reservations, he makes use of the classes. Enter Kyle: handsome and charming, he's something of a good luck charm for Soap with his gentle encouragement and flirting.
By the end of things, Soap has more than new-found confidence in the kitchen.
