Season Five of Stranger Things was supposed to be Hawkins' darkest hour-but what if the story unfolded the way it should have?
Mike Wheeler and Will Byers have always been at the heart of it, their bond deeper than Hawkins can ever understand. Through terror, heartbreak, and mind-bending horrors, they navigate a world that's trying to tear them apart-without ever realizing how much they mean to each other.
Hawkins isn't the same without Will, and Mike's about to realize that the person he's been searching for all along has been right in front of him.

Mike grabs Will’s hands and tangles them with his own, blinking up at him through his long, dark lashes. His eyes are endless. Solid black, like the night above them. So shiny that Will can see himself, tipsy and happy, in the reflection. “I want to be stuck with you,” Mike whispers, like it’s a secret. “I don’t ever want to leave.”
Will sucks in a sharp breath, squeezing his hands. “Then don’t,” he whispers back, punched-out and honest. “Stay.”

Mike opens his mouth, then closes it. Too many questions crowded in the back of his throat. What happened to you this week? What are you hiding? Why didn’t you call me? None of them make it out.
Lucas, steadier, breaks the silence.
“Whose car was that?”
It takes Will a moment to answer. He blinks at the wall behind Lucas like he’s trying to rewind something in his head.
“I borrowed it,” he says finally.
Lucas tilts his head. “Really? From who?”
When Will Byers arrives at the WSQK radio station in a vandalized car none of them recognize, the walls he’s built start to crack. What slips out is a secret he’s been hiding in plain sight.

Max arches a brow. “Carlton, though? You two are dating and you don’t even kiss? Is it just a preference thing?”
Will sighs, resigned. He drops his hands. “Okay. Honestly?” He hesitates, then shrugs. “He was a bad kisser. And I just… couldn’t get excited around him. At all.”
The reaction is immediate and merciless. Dustin makes a dramatic gagging noise. El gasps like she’s been handed gossip gold. Lucas high-fives Max, shaking her hand in his.
Mike doesn’t say anything. He just watches Will, watches the way he shrugs it off, the way he laughs a little too loud, the way his ears go red.
Or, Will's new boyfriend is a bad kisser. Mike thinks it's a crime that no one has kissed Will properly. He's on a goal to change that, Carlton be damned.
