There were a few things that Eddie knew without a doubt. He knew who he was: The Loser Freak of Hawkins, with a dad in jail and a mom that split. The Local Drug Dealer that failed his senior year. Again.
Eddie knew he was smitten with Cherry Henderson the moment she smiled at him during her freshman year. He knew without a doubt that he had it bad when she stood on picnic table outside of school on a walkout she organized and called out the hypocrisy of the school pandering to the losing basketball and football team.
He knew he was completely gone on her when he watched her stand toe to toe with the school bullies, refusing to look the other way or keep quiet.
And most of all, he knew he had no chance.
Well... he might have not been completely right about that.
