Phainon huffed, glaring at the radio device as if it could wilt beneath his ire. “What kind of local station is this?”
Phainon had meant it. What kind of radio station excluded one of the year’s best hits and one of last year’s best ones? He would have thought that Mydei, being a broadcaster himself, would agree sagely and validate his feelings.
Instead, Mydei laughed. It was a quiet, restrained thing that immediately softened all his features and demeanor. Whatever annoyance that may have been plaguing Phainon all fell apart in the wake of that sound.
“Don’t worry,” Mydei reassured him, still smiling. “We always have the campus radio.”

The last thing he remembered before everything went dark was strong arms catching him before he collapsed completely. When he awoke, it was Mydei who was carrying him out, setting him down with the same unimpressed expression he always wore.

“Mydei, does your chest...hurt?”
Mydei sucks air through his teeth and all but spits it back at Phainon. “‘Hurt’ is not a word in the Kremnoan language, especially when it comes to something as insignificant as the expelling of a bodily fluid.” He grits his teeth. “They are simply—full. And inconvenient. And I am perfectly capable of handling them by myself.”
“Mmhm,” says Phainon, squeezing idly at Mydei’s chest and letting out a soft, delighted noise as milk drips over his fingers. “How many hours ago did this happen, again? Or was it yesterday, given how full you are already? You couldn’t bring yourself to do it for the longest time, I bet. They must be tender."
“You know, if you want, I could help. Aedes Elysiae was a farming village, and when I was a child I woke up early every single morning to help with just this sort of thing.” He tugs at Mydei’s nipple again, coaxing out another spill of liquid.
Mydei’s hand flies up to grip Phainon’s, pulling it back, and Phainon whines at the denial. “Did you just compare me to livestock, haikas?”
