“What use would it have?” Benedict asked. “He’s already engaged, he’d reject the offer in favour of his beloved fiancé.”
“Beloved?” Anthony laughed humorlessly. “He’s too green. I bet you all it’d take for him to abandon this nonsense is to find a willing girl to wet his wick with.”
“What does that mean?” Penelope asked. She did not mean to, but the prospect of Colin saving himself from entrapment prompted her to blurt the question out.
After accidently hearing a rather crude declaration from Colin's older brother, Penelope decides to put the put it to the test.

Summary
