He was going to have to face Merlin, knowing he had magic, knowing Merlin didn’t know he didn’t know that Arthur knew.
This was getting complicated. Too complicated. Why was this so complicated?

“We should do a couple’s costume!” he blurts out, and Bucky freezes in the doorway. He blinks twice, then closes the door and takes a step into the room.
“A couple’s costume?” Bucky asks, and Steve braces himself, mentally willing the ignored assignment to grow a set of teeth and start eating objects on the desk so he could be provided with a distraction to allow himself to escape.
“I, uhh. Yeah,” Steve replies, eloquently.

Apparently, it was time he found out the exact answer to that question.or, the one where Gaius is the Medicinal Master and basically the Proprietor of all things Potion of the entirety of Camelot; Arthur is not quite as unobservant and as willing to bow down to Uther's insanity as one might think; Leon is Best WingMan; Gwaine is Best in General and the Biggest Nuisance on top of that; Morgana is Confused; and Merlin thinks he's fucked. and not in the fun way.

Merlin found out by accident that his destined soulmate is his master, Arthur. So, no, he can’t ever have his Heats, can never tell anyone about it (least of all him!), and is quite happy to take his herbs from Gaius, thank you very much. Until Gaius tells him he can’t skip any more Heats and he’d better figure it out, because he isn’t getting any more herbs off him. So, Damn.
He explains it to Arthur, that he needs to go through his heat, but not why he won’t be with his Mate. Then... he accidentally blurts out why and who. Oops. But it rather turns out better than he thought, because Arthur ends up loving the idea and makes sure Merlin is entirely taken care of and protected.
