Roderich was silent for a long moment. Gilbert braced for the polite retreat.
“I don’t mind,” Roderich said, his voice firm. “I’ve… I’ve read about it. PTSD. I know it’s not you being difficult. It’s your nervous system reacting to old danger. I can… I would like to be there. If it happens.”
While formally known as Oberleutnant Beilschmidt, Gilbert is a former soldier amputee struggling with PTSD, noise sensitivity and reintegration into civilian life in Berlin. After reuniting with an old friend, he navigates through relationships, old secrets, and the slow process of healing—both physically and emotionally.
Rated M for intense themes of trauma, violence, mental health, flashbacks of character death and swearing.

Italy was a fantastic actor, based on the childish prank he pulled after training. Quick-witted and overwhelmingly charismatic, too, going by how quickly he disarmed the volatile situation he squeezed himself into. Despite his diminutive Italian visage, he convinced a small group of fully-trained German soldiers that he was not only German himself, but their superior.
Factor in the fact that the man was quite literally immortal and would spring back from death as easily as a gymnast from a hard fall- it was perfect.
The personification of Northern Italy could be his personal spy.
