When a girl from 21st-century America is visiting a country house for a costume party and reaches in a deep bookcase, she finds herself in a strange land…thrust back in time by 500 years. Narnia was real, and Athena Harrison was in it.
As she adjusts to a world and time that is not her own, the Kings and Queens of Narnia acclimate to her knowledge of their lives. She knows the prophecies, histories, and political tensions of their great country. But perhaps most importantly, she knows how they can further benefit their kingdom. By using the Just King's networks and the Gentle Queen's alliances through court, politics, and diplomacy, the monarchs are in a position to give their subjects a better life and resources when needed.
It's not long before this refugee program attracts the attention of a foreign royal wife looking to escape her country, and when she arrives in Narnia, the stakes change. Political alliances are tested, ambition gives way to love, and amidst it all, a certain Just King finds himself willing to defend Athena at any cost.
