Summary
In the aftermath of returning to London, Sherlock struggles with life as he once knew it. Physical healing is tedious, and mental healing feels unreachable. John is by his side every step of his journey, and Mycroft is less suffocating than usual.
Time passes. A month, perhaps two go by since he's returned home, Sherlock doesn't bother to pay attention. His body begins to heal, though there are still limitations. But things are looking up... Until John gets an e-mail that visibly upsets him, then he pretends he never received.

Summary
“As I was saying--” Sherlock says shakily. For some inexplicable reason, his back is pushed up against the wall. John has no idea how that has happened.
“You have some-” John tries to say, but Sherlock barrels through.
“I owe you a favour-”
“Good, I’d like a kiss.”
Sherlock stops talking immediately. John wants to take that back, wants to backpedal like an idiot, blot out his words from Sherlock’s mind. But he also feels dangerous and reckless, wants the shape of Sherlock’s mouth burnt into his own.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Sherlock whispers. -

John is twenty-eight and fresh out of specialist training, leaving for Afghanistan in three weeks. He’s nervous but proud to be serving and excited to be helpful. After all, there are never enough doctors and nurses on the front lines. Sherlock wonders if this man - this beautiful enigma of a man - will come home. He certainly hopes so.
