Xie Lian was what people would call weird for paying for innocuous services at a brothel rather than an inn, because if he could afford tea and a table, shouldn’t he prefer a place without any sexual proclivities? But the best part about visiting brothels was that no one would ever recognize him if they were looking! Xie Lian would never be caught dead in one of those establishments, right? And when he was injured, as he often was, waiting to feel better was easier when he could listen to gentle music in a warmly atmosphere!
Yes, the atmosphere was designed to lure men into beds! No, Xie Lian didn’t want a bed or anything like that! He wanted tea, a small table in the corner of whatever room the singers were performing in, and something to lean on as his vision spun from the aftermath of falling off a cliff! Funnily enough, while no one had ever sought him out before—nor did he drink in these places—there was a first time for everything!
Why was there a youth at his table looking at him like that?
(or: xie lian frequents brothels, which would definitely be a shock to anyone who once knew him. similarly, he’s frequently injured. these things occur simultaneously more often than not!)

Summary
Hua Cheng is overwhelmed by the constant pain of absorbing the Kiln’s power. It’s been pure agony ever since he jumped into Mount Tonglu’s opening.
He gets no reprieve, even in unconsciousness. His brain takes the opportunity to torture him with reminder of all his failures: his dreams are filled with nothing but flashes of his beloved in pain. A torrent of painful memories.
At least, that’s what they were at first.
Something shifted, and now he can’t stop dreaming of a grassy field. A peaceful field where a certain god, clothed in white robes, appears.
It’s paradise. A chance to see his beloved again.
But of course, there’s a catch: Hua Cheng can’t control the form he takes in these dreams, and he finds himself transformed into the younger versions of himself.
He’s overjoyed to see his god again, but…he keeps making his beloved cry from seeing his past selves.
Maybe it is another torture.
