Summary
night shift is a series of one-shots set in an au where dean never gets cured after being turned into a vampire. Instead of going back to his old life, he’s stuck living in the dark, trying to find some kind of new normal. each chapter is a snapshot of his life, set at varying points between season 6 and season 15, as he navigates the aftermath of his transformation, the toll it takes on his relationships with those he loves, and the hunger he can’t shake.
UPDATE (13/11/25): this series started as a standalone, but i’m reworking it into the first part of a four-part story. the revisions are meant to smooth out the character arcs so everything connects more naturally going forward. the tone is shifting just a little — dean’s feelings for cas are beginning to surface throughout the course of this fic, but cas doesn’t believe dean’s in love with him — not yet. therefore, the running theme i want to hold onto throughout this series is that quiet tension between hope and doubt — that longing for something real, even when neither of them can quite name it yet. chapters with sexual content will have a !, and finished chapters will have the date of completion, so you know you're reading the final version!

Summary
The man was dead, and it was wrong.
A lot can happen in a day. A hunt leaves Dean broken, bleeding and clinging to life. In the days that follow, he finds his typical life of mundane monster-hunting turned on its head, as he is trailed by blue lights and radio static. To make matters worse he worries he might be becoming the very thing he's spent his life hunting.
Castiel is an angel with a mission. He needs to keep Dean alive, a task which is more difficult than he had anticipated. To rub salt in the wound, he might be falling from grace. Angels aren't meant to have human emotions but he is beginning to want things.

Summary
Following Chuck's defeat and Jack's vanishing act, Dean Winchester leaves everything behind and takes off running. With freedom comes the fresh hell of grief and the finality of it. But, of course, life has a sense of humor.
Running quickly turns into fatherhood, quickly turns into a cabin in the mountains, quickly turns into dealing with all the rising pain and trauma and grief that he's been holding back. But maybe it'll all end up alright. After all, he's got a baby Jack to take care of, a cabin to fix up, and the relentless urge to sing his troubles away. In a way, it's a life he's dreamed of, mundane and slow with a kid a parent could only dream of and the security of a roof over his head.
Dean's realized that there's just one thing missing. There's always been just one thing missing from it all.
