Summary
Footsteps come running up the hall behind him as he’s passed by a gaggle of first-years on the way to their next emergency. Bruce remembers his intern years fondly. They’re like puppies. It isn’t until he hears one of them telling another that Dr. Thompkins put a rush order on Timothy Drake’s labs that Bruce’s head snaps around faster than his brain can catch up with his ears.
“What did you just say?” He catches one of the interns by the shoulder, yanking her to a stop. “Did you say Timothy Drake?”

Summary
The patient turns out to be a ten-year-old boy named Timothy Drake. He was brought in this afternoon from the local boarding school for a persistent fever and cough. The kid sits primly on the examination cot, looking pale and sufficiently miserable. Bruce can’t see any parent or guardian with him, but maybe they simply stepped out for a moment.
“Hi, Timothy,” Bruce greets him. “I’m Dr. Wayne. I’m going to be checking you out today. We'll see if we can figure out why you’re feeling so lousy.”
“Tim,” the boy says. He looks up at Bruce’s six-feet-and-two-inches of height stubbornly. “And I’m not sick. The nurse was just overreacting.” Despite this, he trips into a coughing fit, gasping for air once it’s passed.

Summary
Tim’s been watching Batman and Robin for a while, okay? He understands what crime is. But then Batman turns a guy over to the police for reasons Tim doesn’t understand at all. It’s not a crime to hit your kids so they know what they did wrong, right? So Tim asks Batman about it. And, well, to say it quickly goes sideways is an understatement, AKA, what will later be referred to as “that time Tim tried blackmailing Batman to not call Child Protective Services.”
