Summary
"Very well, Satori. My proposition is this; we get engaged." Satori stares, waiting for the punchline to a truly unimpressive joke. Wakatoshi simply looks back at him, calm.
Satori can't decide if he's fucking with him or just a madman.
"You...want to what?" His voice sounds strange and shocked even to himself, which is no surprise. Wakatoshi merely nods and opens his mouth, launching into an explanation that Satori doesn't particularly want to hear.
"Get engaged. I cannot assume the throne until I have someone to marry; you are destined to overthrow my father. I would prefer to do it as bloodlessly as possible." It makes...a little bit of sense, perhaps. It's an odd way to fulfill the prophecy, but it isn't directly against what the prophecy says.
Satori and Wakatoshi don't have the greatest of starts to their relationship. One's a prince, one's a dragon shifter, and surely a fake, forced engagement couldn't possibly go wrong between them...

and not only that, but his nose is nuzzling at the skin of his neck, softly humming to himself before tightening his embrace ever so slightly, his lips parting, brushing over the sensitive skin in such a delightful way that the blood rushes to his cheeks (and elsewhere). not now, he wants to say even though he is sure his voice won’t come out as nothing more than a weak squeak — richard has this kind of power over him — when really he should be saying, what the hell do you think you’re doing ? it’s not a proper way for friends to behave.
