Summary
There is a long blissful quiet between them before the yellow mech shatters it with something that hits D-16 like a shovel to the face.
“Primus… Is this what love feels like?” B-127 sighs, his pixilated vision locked on the silver mech.
The words bore into D-16 spark like the serrated teeth of an energon drill. It digs deep, deep enough to physically hurt.
Love? How can someone love him anymore?
With nothing left but a broken body, after being thrown away like overused trash?
Useless and ruined.
It is almost enough to make D-16 shatter.
Instead, he says, “No, it’s just delirium. Eat something, stupid.”
D-16 and Orion Pax made it to Sentinel Prime's service pod, but only one made it out unscathed. Once he had his cruel fun, Sentinel made sure to throw his garbage away.
Left beyond repair, D-16 is saved from the underground incinerator by a strange little mech who struggles to nurse him back to health.

At the mention of my false name, the towering mech finally turned. Slowly, deliberately, he pivoted to face me, making me suffocate from just his mere presence. His red, hexagonal optics settled on me, their gaze piercing through my spark.
Nano-clicks stretched into eternity as his optics narrowed—then widened ever so slightly, recognition dawning in their crimson glow.

Summary
Orion Pax is an archivist at the Prime Museum of Cybertron in Iacon. It's his dream job, or was, before his mid life crisis kicked in and got him demoted to cleanup duty. While life is seemingly bleak, at least he still has the quasi-comforting Megatronus statue to vent his embarrassingly privileged problems to. At least he can't ever hold it against Orion, because he's not real.

“This is a truce between us. If we bond, neither of us can get out of this.”
"So you're willing to force us into a bond neither of us would ever want, to risk literal insanity, just so you can get your precious peace?" Megatron says, voice filled with disbelief and disgust.
"It doesn't matter what I want," Optimus replies, ignoring the freezing ice creeping closer to his spark.
"And it doesn't matter what I want, either?" Megatron snarls at him.
"This isn't about us!" Optimus says, louder than intended. He berates himself for losing his composure when Megatron's lips curl into a smirk. "I am willing to do anything to keep Cybertron safe."
"Safe from me, you mean," Megatron says, gesturing towards the dark halls of the Nemesis outside of Optimus' prison cell.
"Yes.”
An arranged bond is a dangerous, loveless union in which one's death can have catastrophic consequences for the other. It's a trap with no way out.
It's also Optimus' only chance to end the war, so he proposes a deal Megatron is unable to refuse.
