They had sat Rumi down, with Mira’s leg bouncing anxiously while Zoey twisted one of her fidget toys. They had said they got together not long after the idol awards, and didn’t want to make their much needed bonding time with Rumi all about them instead.
Rumi felt a pang in her chest, as well as bile in her stomach from all the churning. She doesn’t understand why, why she cares so much that they are together. She shouldn’t care, not like this.
“Is that okay?” Mira had asked, voice guarded but eyes shining with vulnerability.
“Of course it is.” Rumi had replied, pulling them into a hug.
