His voice cut off in surprise at the sight of the dead mouse slowly being pushed out of the tree's opening.
"What is this, some kind of cruel joke?" The other asked, unmoving.
"No." Tailgate replied, "it’s for you, you can have it."
"Why?"
"Because you're hungry." Tailgate stated blankly.
Tailgate gets attacked by a starving, mono-eyed cat in the forest, it sure would be a shame if someone were to meet his aggression and hostility with nothing but sincere kindness and teach him about the magic of friendship...

Husk blinked, shaking himself out of where he had been standing, frozen. Cat-like pupils contracted to thin slits as he made quick work out of crossing the bar and storming through the back door.
"Hey fucker!" The ex-overlord growled as he wasted no time in flicking a queen of hearts straight into the man's eye socket. The action freezing his posse mid-laugh and causing him to drop Angel, hands flying up to pull the card out his profusely bleeding new hole.

Shadow smirked to himself as he grabbed the two sides of Sonics chest to pin him down, yet just as he was about to shoot a taunting remark down at the other, he paused.
The loose singlet that Sonic was wearing had gaping arm holes, enough for Shadows hands to find purchase on the tape across his chest rather than the fabric of the shirt or the familiar tan fur.

Shadow finds it amusing that Sonic has sports tape even on his chest, that is, until Sonic explains that it's there for a different reason

Taking in the sight of him, his plating is… unfamiliarly unique. It has curves and ridges unlike any other mech he’s ever seen, and now that he isn’t curled in on himself, Tailgate can see that the impalement wound isn’t the only injury he has. On the side he'd turned away and hidden against the cliff, there’s deep scratches gouging through his abdominal plating, sluggishly bleeding thick energon. Said impalement is further down, the metal shoved up under and displacing a piece of leg plating uncomfortably, and—
Tailgate cycles his optics.
This mech doesn’t have legs.
Tailgate is a shore maintenance worker, preventing cliffs from degrading into the Rust Sea. When his coworker abandons him mid-shift, he's ill-equipped to help a mech he finds washed up and injured on the shore, much less when he realizes this is a creature he didn't even know existed yesterday.

Summary
A malfunctioning space bridge causes Whirl, and his definitely-totally-arch-nemesis Cyclonus, to land on a planet outside of the charted universe. A planet far away from the war, whose inhabitants seem to be dead set on forcing the two of them to learn how to (ugh) live normal, healthy lives, where they talk about their feeeeelings and make friends with weird, organic little slime blobs. Ugh.
Whirl would rather die, thanks.
Or, in which Tailgate is a Slime Rancher, and gets a couple of emotionally stunted, war-hardened idiots dropped on his lawn.
