“Oh my!” A feminine voice squeaked over the phone. “My, Nick, that is just dreadful!” Her dramatic flare was easy to picture over the line. I could imagine her falling back onto her love sofa, a woeful hand draped over her forehead. A down look on her face, one of pity. Not a genuine one.
“Yes, well.” I was on edge. My hands were clammy and my throat felt heavy. I doubted the rich ever felt this way. Maybe I could ask them.

Patroclus needs a date for a Valentine's Day party at his office, and asks Achilles to come. Unbeknownst to Patroclus, Achilles is hopelessly in love with him, and would do absolutely anything for him. Plus, it's the best opportunity to externalise his feelings for Patroclus, and finally get over him. Or so the plan goes.
