Summary
Robert Robertson was an ordinary man, sure, he was Mecha Man, but that hardly meant anything when you didn't have superpowers. He knew that he was stuck deep in the mask, but couldn't find who he truly was as Robert. After getting the job with SDN, he realizes just how deep it goes. Just how far in the past it went. After the suit was destroyed, he was left without anything; now he has a band of misfits to look after. Despite their dispositions, they do care for Robert. When he is kidnapped on his way home, they search relentlessly for him. However, who they find isn't their normal dispatcher.

Robert has always known he was different - that there was something fundamentally wrong with him. He often felt like there was too much of him stuffed into the confines of his meat and bones - like some weird fleshy prison. He would stare at his hand sometimes and see T̶̟̅͑Ḫ̵͖̋̎Ì̸̼N̴̪̈́Ǧ̵͚̕S̶͎͐ moving underneath. He swore he could taste what people around him were feeling more than he could observe with his eyes.
Maybe that's why his father never loved him. Maybe that's why Uncle Elliot went mad. Maybe that's why he became addicted to the taste of a certain pyrokinetic villain. Maybe that's why, after the explosion, he stopped trying to pretend to be human - he's not.
He's Mecha Man Eldritch.

Punch Up is pretty sure Robert thinks he's been asked to join their date night. To be fair, were it anyone besides Robert, they would've figured it out about six dates ago, but their beloved dispatcher still grapples with the concept that people might actually find him attractive and ask him on a date. Granted, that iswhat had happened, kind of, but the main idea was that Robert didn't eat enough and they always went out to a really filling restaurant. So it was actually Punch Up and Coupé attempting to get him back to a healthy weight post-coma. The date was incidental.
It's fine. He figures it out eventually, and they even manage to convince him that, no, really, they do want him there. In return, he decides to take them somewhere extra special.

Chad sat on his couch, sinking into the plush leather cushions, willing himself to just send that damn message. Why was he making this so hard for himself? Chad was overthinking everything. It could just be read as a friendly invitation, one colleague to another. A, “Hey, you want to come over for lunch with my family?” No, that sounded too… nice. Robert might get the wrong idea. Well, the right idea but that would be too soon, wouldn't it? Maybe, “Hey bitch, I know your sad little fridge is always empty, so, you want to come have some lunch?” Chad sat, his thumb hovering over his phone’s keyboard and he let out a loud groan. Why was he making this such a big deal?
Flambae decides to invite Robert over for some lunch with his family and... just falls for the man even harder.

Robert had been drowning his omega in suppressants and scent patches for years to keep his secondary gender silent, just like his father did before him, but after his coma, his doctor banned him from using those, and ordered him to let his omega breathe again, but between dealing with chronic pain, his omega's return, and losing the Mecha Man suit to his dad's ambush, Robert is finding it hard.
But between his team and Flambae, things might just work work for the best.
And if it doesn't, Robert always has Beef and Twinkies to count on, neither of them have ever let him down before.

Oh, and he wasn't a man at all. He was The Astral Pulse, his father's greatest scientific achievement.

Well let's hope a band of stubborn misfit ex-villains can help with sorting out that last one.

He won’t know until morning that Elliot was taken into custody, that there is a search party looking for Robert, that the next month of his life is going to be a whirlwind that is only the start of the rest of his shitty shitty life.
No, the night where gunshots ring in Robert’s ears, he climbs into the suit while Elliot is distracted over Dad’s corpse, jams the astral core into place, and flies away.

“Morning Team.”
There’s a string of groans, someone curses; and it feels like he’d interrupted something, but the first call comes in; and there’s no time to piece together the conversation that was happening beforehand. Even if there’s a low pang of ill placed rejection sticking to the inside of his throat.
Yeah, great day.
Baby steps. Robert breathes harshly through his noise and regrets it when the entire office floods his senses; swallows a mouthful of bile and snips back at Invisigal, bitches at Flambae, and sends Golem to un-fuck someone's fuck up. Tries not to choke on his instincts and lets both his knees go numb.
Robert's always been a Omega, it's not a point of pride, it's not a point of contention. He just is.
After putting Shroud back behind bars, Robert returns to his new post coma normal: pretending nothing is wrong, orbiting the Z-Team, pretending the group of unruly Alpha's aren't his pack. Pushing himself past his already stretched thin limits.Robert's body demands a break.
And it's going to get one, whether he wants it or not.
The Z-Team do their best to pick up the pieces in the aftermath, in their own way.

Summary
This is the 3rd part of the Robert x Flambae “series” I have been doing. Can technically be read as a stand alone if wanted. Slightly longer than the other 2.
Robert tries his best to focus on his house warming party, however the fact that one ponytailed, gap-toothed, fireproof asshole isn’t here doesn’t go unnoticed. At least not by him.
Or, Robert can’t help but think of Flambae during the day after the bar fight, and then he shows up at the housewarming party, and stays when everyone else leaves.
