Summary
Ghost ruminates on his past and losing his family. One of the hardest things was losing his young nephew Joseph. Ghost knew he was not the type to deserve a family, but then he finds out a woman he dated briefly before joining the military had gotten pregnant. She has since passed and now custody is falling to Simon. He struggles to learn to parent, but Soap is there for him through it all. As their relationship grows, Soap helps Ghost discover his ace identity as well.

Summary
Ghost is forced to share a room with Soap for a few nights, greatly increasing his anxiety about his night terrors. He hasn't let anyone in the task force know how hard being idle is for him. On the first night with Soap, he has terrible nightmares. Soap helps him through it, and promises to help Ghost through the rest of his stay in Soap's room. The next night, suspected nearby hostiles force the base into a black-out night. But this doesn't stop Soap from wanting some midnight snacks. Soaps makes a whole deal out of it to try and keep Ghost distracted from his past.

Summary
The first time Soap opened his door to see a plate of orange slices at his feet, he dismissed it without thinking twice.
Plenty of soldiers were known for taking extra food back with them from the mess. When they suddenly decided not to indulge anymore, it was common for them to offload everything and continue on their way.
Sure, the slices were perfectly aligned in front of Soap’s door, but that had to be where his involvement ended, right?

Soap takes an interest in the Orange Peel Theory, coincidently around the time that orange slices begin following him around base.

“Next time you get shot, try to have them aim for your shit sense of humor, aye?” Soap joked before tenderly lifting Ghost’s arm, preparing to start stitching. “I’ll be careful, I promise.”
He tried not to think about how nice it was to feel the skin under his fingertips, or the warmth that spread through his body.
“You don’t have to be so...soft with me,” Ghost mumbled, “Not made of glass, Johnny, I can take it. I don’t care if it scars.”

What started as an eventful mission ended with Soap stitching Ghost up on the safe house's kitchen table. Looking for something to raise the man's sugar levels, Soap raided the cabinets until he found the last thing he expected-

“Simon, please,” he reached out and this time Simon did flinch.
“I’m sorry, Johnny, for whatever I did-if that means anything,” he claws at his hair again dragging over the uneven growth, “you don’t have to pretend for my sake.”
“Pretend?” Johnny’s voice was broken, and the blonde realized with a shock he was crying, “you think that I’m scared of you? That I could ever hate you?”
“It isn’t hard to hate me, Johnny. I’m probably the closest thing to a real-life monster, I made a career out of violence,” a new sick thought took root in his mind twisting his despair into anger, “Was it just some dare? A joke that went too long? See how much you could touch ‘the Ghost’ before he bites?”

Summary
Simon thought he was fine with having sex. He hadn't had sex in years, but he assumed he was somewhat healed by now. If not healed, then at least jaded enough to suck it up and move on.
Or, Ghoap's first time and Simon is not really sure he wants it but goes with it anyway because he feels bad rejecting and delaying sex for this long.

“We can’t, sir.” Soap cut him off. “You know the rules, it leads to an imbalance of power. I’d be pressured, with my career in your hands and all that…“ The words almost sound methodical, like he was citing them by memory.
Ghost stood frozen as he listened. He had prepared himself for rejection, figuring that regardless of the outcome, he could at least get it off his chest.
But this? Soap was saying that he didn’t feel comfortable around him. That he thought Ghost would take advantage of him.

When Ghost confessed his love towards Soap, the last thing he had expected was to be rejected. Suddenly terrified that he coerced Soap into interacting with him because of his higher rank.
So he requests a temporary transfer. Leaving Soap to come to terms with his budding feelings for the man, alone.
Can Soap make things right? Or did he end their relationship before it even began?
