    That gets Madeline’s attention, as her head immediately darts up in Helen’s direction.

    “What do you mean?” She asks, unsure why the question makes her feel so uncomfortable and inexplicably furious.

    “Y’know, like, if one of us brings a guy home or something.” Helen shrugs like it’s the most casual thing in the world. “Shouldn’t we have some kind of protocol?”

    She pulled out several noodles bathed in a broth that contained more calories than Helen cared to think about and blew lightly on them to cool them down a bit.
    "Open your mouth."
    "I'm sick, Mad. I'm not a little girl."
    "Helen. Open. Your. Fucking. Mouth."
    She did, of course.
    Madeline stuck the fork in her mouth, and Hel chewed the noodles slowly. Mad ran a napkin under her chin, wiping away some of the sauce that dripped from her mouth.
    "Good girl," she whispered.
    Helen almost choked. And Madeline noticed. She laughed and leaned even closer to her roommate.
    "What's wrong?" she asked. "You like being called that? You're a little slut, Sharp, aren't you?"
