Wilbur took a deep breath. This was his life. He never wanted it to be this way. And although seeing the world grow from villages to towns and cites, seeing the spark of electricity begin to run through the very framework of their world, was nice. It was also so lonely.
So very lonely.
He took another deep breath, preparing to jump to the roofs and make his way back home when tiny footsteps echoed around him.
He glanced back and saw a small blonde boy emerge from the darkness. His jaw dropped slightly. The kid was ringing his hands together nervously and looking from him to all around. Eyes constantly darting.

Summary
After their first encounter, Tommy didn't want anything to do with Wilbur again. Not after everything the man had done, not after fucking him and leaving him the next day without a word. He just wanted to heal, and it was impossible to do with Wilbur hovering over his shoulder, breathing the life back into his blackened lungs.
But when Wilbur comes to his house in the middle of the night, he knows his fate is sealed from the get go. He knows that no matter how much he hates it, his body responds to Wilbur much more than his mind wants to. He knows that the second Wilbur reaches out to touch him he will become entirely and utterly his, and suddenly everything will feel so much more real.
So it isn't much of a surprise when minutes later he's being pressed down into a bed, begging Wilbur to tear him to pieces. Anything to feel alive again. Anything to believe that what Wilbur gave him was love.

Too many responses to count flashed through Tommy’s mind. This man was going to kill him, there was no denying that. No denying that Tommy had been stupid. That mantra had gotten him through the night, sure, but it wasn’t true, and now he was going to die.
