“You know how I feel about this,” Noodle said after a long silence. The words echoed in the stairwell, difficult and uncomfortable. 2D shifted his weight from one leg to the other.
“She’s not you,” He murmured, aware he was walking into very unstable territory. Noodle’s gaze slid back to him with a razor’s edge, controlled and dangerous.
“She was meant to be,” She said shortly.

"Murdoc looks terrible—even more than usual. He’s disheveled and covered in monitors. Asleep, he looks nearly dead. If this man—this man who bought her a jetpack as a child, and kind of taught her how to drive, and never hesitated to cut down any interviewer who said the slightest thing inappropriate about her—dies after she yelled at him on the phone and abandoned him in jail, Noodle will never forgive him. Or herself."
Shortly after the release of Cracker Island, the band's good times are derailed by a medical mystery. Murdoc has an existential crisis, Noodle takes it upon herself to save her sort-of parental figure, Russel tries to keep the peace...and 2D realizes it's time to adult.

Summary
A living Hell is all Stuart "2-D" Pot has really known for a large, fatty slab of his adulthood. However, when his own personal pitchfork wielding eternal prosecutor is out of the picture, is it an opening to finally find himself like he's wanted to for nearly two decades? With a helping hand from Murdoc's replacement, it only feels like the door is wide open for him, screaming his name. Feeling the warmth of the glow beyond the door on his face, what could possibly stop him or even go wrong?
Progress isn't a crime, after all.
