Summary
An idea hit him and Childe hopped to his feet with a grin. “Fine, I’ll prove it to you.”
This would be a foolproof way to make a point and to prove Lumine wrong. A flawless idea. Probably the best idea he had ever had in his life.
“I don’t know what you’re planning, Childe,” she said, pulling herself up with the wall and reaching for her sword, “but it’s probably a terrible idea. Seriously, just admit that you like him because it’s obvious to anyone who sees the two of you interact.”
He spun on his heels and laughed. “So, Lumine, that’s where you’re wrong. I don’t like Zhongli as anything more than a friend, and may Celestia strike me down if I’m lying!”
Lumine’s face paled and the two of them stood there in silence for a moment, Childe ignoring his totally not rapidly beating heart. He was certain that this would be fine. There was no way he liked Zhongli like that.
“See, Lumine? I’m just fine—”
And then the lightning struck.

Zhongli was sitting not far from him, on a throne of pulsating Geo, his head cocked to the side and his amber eyes blazing. The gaze cast upon Childe was.... unnerving. Long hair free from it's usual tie, it fell over his naked shoulders, accentuating the glowing sigils of molten gold stretching over his blackened arms and firm pectorals.
He looked bigger like this. Unperturbed and uncaring for the panic in Childe's eyes.
He looked ethereal.
He looked like a god.This wasn't Zhongli. He was looking at Morax. And Morax was looking back at him like he was prey ready to be devoured.
