Summary
His father would accuse him of being weak, of letting his heart lead him to stupid places. But for once in his life, Ilya can’t bring himself to care about this. He wants Shane. He wants to coax his boyfriend into ordering takeout from that place they like around the corner from Ilya’s apartment and cheating on his diet a little. Then he wants to blow him on the couch, and he wants Shane to ride him. They can shower afterwards and put some highlights on the TV before falling asleep and ignoring Shane’s alarm the next morning. He wants the peace they had at the cottage during the season, to steal those moments and get to exhale.

Ilya is the captain, so if anything, he should be holding the leash. In English, you can be singular or plural, but he knows what Svensson is trying to say. He is saying Ilya Rozanov, you are Hollander’s bitch.
“Only sometimes,” Ilya replies, grinning. He wins the face off.
OR: Ilya trains himself to be a very, very good guard dog for Shane.

Summary
In a lot of ways, Shane is just like anyone— he’s joyous for the most part. Without doubt. Focused on his career, confined within routine. He talks to the press, laughs brightly, shit-talks Rozanov during pre and post game interviews.
That is, Shane is just like anyone, in a lot of ways except that there is something haunted that rests in his eyes. Tonight, he’s sitting at the corner of a bar, eyes flat. The man sitting next to him tucks a joint between his teeth, bringing a lighter up towards it.
After taking a drag, the man offers the joint to Shane. To Ilya’s surprise, he takes it.
It irks Ilya.
