Another explosion rocks the ship, and the glow of fire surrounds the boy giving his life to save him, bathing him in orange light and making his hair sway with the shockwave. “Good luck.”
“No... no, Kaoru, you have to- you have to-" The voice reaches the end of the countdown, and Kaoru's smile turns both warm and heart-wrenchingly sad. Tears well up in blue eyes, as he screams, begs him, the universe, the gods, at the top of his lungs, “LIVE!!!”
