Summary
Gold strings attach parents and children. Red strings attach spouses/loved ones. Silver strings attach to friends and other loved ones. When young Harry Potter walked into the Great Hall at the age of eleven, Albus Dumbledore could only see a snapped Gold string and a faded red string attached to the young Draco Malfoy. But, as Harry stepped up to the stool to be sorted, he watched as a bright Gold string stretched out from Harry’s magical core and attached itself to Severus Snape.

Summary
Harry is street-wise and cunning, he trusts no one and has learned the hard way how to avoid a beating and stay alive. When his Hogwarts letter arrives he is naturally suspicious but Harry is a survivor and he is keen to get out of his Uncles house. He knows he is probably being manipulated but decides Hogwarts is a risk worth taking, however, he is going to do it on his own terms.
An unlikely ally points him in the direction of his mother's best friend and Harry finds that while some people are undoubtedly out to manipulate him his Housemates and his Head of House have his back.

Summary
It took the drastic move of Harry cutting his hair and getting rid of his glasses before Severus could see anything else than a mini James. But once he did he realised that he was not the only one blinded to the boy.
The rest of the Wizarding world could only see the famed Boy-who-lived. Not the traumatised teen, with a far to heavy burden placed on his shoulders. With the clarity of his new sight he is horrified to see just how much the boy is suffering.
