And it’s finally quiet, in the hospital. Dark enough without the overhead lights that the entire wing feels calm and his body doesn’t twitch uncomfortably at the constant surveillance he’s under during the day. It’s quiet, and he’s alone.
Every day that he’s been out of surgery, that’s about the moment Izuku shows up.
He’s less and less unprepared for the sound of his door being opened at this hour, the mechanical click from the handle and the heavy, low squeak of the panel shifting slowly ajar. It’s been about a week, now. Even the first time, Katsuki had a hard time feeling the shock he tells himself he maybe should have.
Instead, like every other time, he feels relief.

At the very least he should exercise some goddamn tact, and especially when it comes to Bakugou Katsuki. Everyone’s silence has its price, and while Enji’s pockets run deep, he’s getting tired of cleaning up after the two of them; tabloids, social media, rumors in his own agency. Keeping his son’s relationship tightly under wraps is its own full-time job, costing a hefty sum to shield their little fling from the spotlight, and while it’s no secret that Bakugou loves to be the center of attention—bold and brash in every sense—it’s almost to his own detriment, and certainly to Shouto’s. If they have to act like animals, as hormonal teenagers are wont to do, Enji would prefer that they do it in private.
And yet, of course, like every other boy their age, they can’t seem to think with the head attached to their shoulders. Sure, Shouto knows better, but Enji will deal with him later.
Right now, it’s Bakugou that needs to learn a lesson in discretion.

“Yes, dear?” Deku asks, his tone light and cheerful like he doesn’t currently have a hand locked around Katsuki’s throat. The grip is tight enough to bruise, leaving Katsuki light-headed as he struggles to breathe. “Do you need something?”
The closed, unlocked door is the only thing keeping Ochako from seeing them like this. "Did Katsuki have another nightmare?”
“Yeah, poor kid.” Deku’s voice is perfectly conversational. “I’m surprised you didn’t hear him screaming, he was being pretty loud.” When he glances down at Katsuki, his shit-eating grin gleams in the moonlight. “Go back to bed, honey. I’ll be there soon.”
