Summary
Will’s eating him, eating his hand.
He doesn’t know what to think. His mouth is dry, and when he parts his lips to speak, to say anything at all, no words can come out. Blood spills out around Will’s lips, and his gaze is unfocused as he stares at the wall behind Mike. He can feel tears spring to his eyes as the back of his hand becomes more mangled by the second.
Mike can’t bring himself to yell at Will to stop.
OR
Mike finds Will in the woods, not El. Though, something is different about Will, something that Mike founds out about soon enough.

A ripple. Mike’s head shoots back upwards, willing his eyeballs to develop night vision as he squints at the lake. Maybe he should've been eating carrots like Nancy said. The lake remains eerily calm. Mike squints harder.
Silence. Even the trees have quietened, like someone turning down the volume on the world.
The torch flicks back on just as something grabs at Mike’s ankle.
It falls somewhere to his side and Mike sees, past the frantic up and down of his chest, something crawl out of the lake.

Summary
What would happen if Will Byers was never found during the events of Stranger Things season 1? How would he survive the upside down? How would the people of Hawkins react?
Will breathed in a ragged breath. Black smoke poured from his mouth as he tore himself free from the wall. He collapsed forward, coughing and gasping on the cold, moist floor.
His heart pounded in his ears as he shakily scrambled to his feet. Eyes darting around the abyss, he started to run. And he ran, and ran, and ran.
His feet pounded on the ground when suddenly he found himself on a familiar path. Finally, something familiar. Will sprinted through the woods, as a feeling of hope filtered its way through the panic. He was getting there, he was gonna be safe, it was finally within reach.
Castle Byers.
The pain in his chest and legs screamed at him to rest, but he couldn't risk stopping. He pushed himself further, calves aching with each step. Suddenly, a loud screech echoed through the air from somewhere up ahead.
Will skidded to a stop as the monster moved on the path ahead. It was in the way, standing between him and safety.- Language:
