“I’m worried about you.” He said it quickly, but clearly. His eyes--so bright, they were always so bright--they gazed deeply into hers as he finally squeezed her hand in turn, and smiled shyly. “I think… I think you might be in your own head too, Captain.”

Now listen — listen — Willow knows she’s tough. She does. She also knows that ladybugs are bloodthirsty killers bent on garden warfare, specifically against her garden, and they always have been, and she is not above retreat every once and a while when she catches sight of those unsettling little shells, okay? She didn’t just come away from the blood orchid blooming ceremony of her sixth birthday with a love for carnivorous plants.
That said, she tries to be brave. She’s Willow Park, after all! She’s not just any old half-a-witch anymore — or at least, she’s trying not to be — and it’s just one little bug. Just one. She can handle that. She’s not six anymore.
Her resolve immediately fails her when the ladybug’s wings start to buzz.

“Ok, so- do not feel pressured to say yes at all, I know you have family,” he was turning redder by the word, “but doyouwannaspendtheholidaysatmynana’s?” He asked quickly.
“Can you… repeat that?” Zelda asked, kind of sheepish. He looked at her funnily, face nearly entirely red.
“Uh, d-do you want to spend the holidays at my Nana’s? I know you normally spend time with your family around the holidays, but the offer’s there.”
Zelda thought about it. Thought about the politic-filled feud that was her family’s holiday dinners, the shame fest that it was whenever she was asked ‘are you still playing around with those toys?’ And her answer was sealed.
“If you’ll have me, I’d be glad.” She said. Link sighed.
“Yeah, that’s what I expecte- wait what?”
Or, Zelda spends the holidays at her best friend's family's house, because that's what completely platonic best friends do, right?
