Kakashi didn’t really think he was the best choice for this. He’d tried to explain this to the official who’d summoned him out of bed just before midnight, tried to explain that they ought to wake Umino, or the Sandaime, or literally anyone else, tried to explain that Naruto had only been his genin for a few months and that really, he didn’t know her that well. All to no avail, and now he was standing in the office of the shinobi headquarters that had been converted to the new law enforcement station after the Uchiha police regime was wiped out, watching through one-way glass as the student he was desperately trying not to get too close to rocked herself, arms wrapped around her knees with a shell-shocked expression and wide, distant eyes.

At that moment, Muzan and Michikatsu were stunned, and Douma and Akaza realized they were not in the familiar Taisho era but in the more distant Sengoku period.
"Sengoku?" Douma was the first to speak, "That's 100 years before my Edo period. Strange, how did I come to this time?" Though he was complaining, he still had a smile on his face. "Then if I start eating people from this time on, won’t I be even more powerful than before?”
The Demon trembled. Since the name Tsugikuni Yoriichi was uttered, the air had chilled. There was no doubt it was related to Muzan's presence.
Muzan himself knew where this unease came from. Finally, Tsugikuni Michikatsu spoke, "So what did he do when he went down the mountain today?”
The Demon finally caught his breath: "Strangely, he went down the mountain today to buy many, many seeds."
