Summary
A canon-aligned but canon-divergent AU that takes the whole Game Changers series, throws it into a bag with some real life NHL hockey events and drama, and gives it a good shake to see what comes out. In brief, Shane leaves Montreal for his own reasons and gets to experience the reveal of his sexual orientation and seven-year rivals-with-benefits relationship in a more inclusive locker room but while still being rivals with Ilya. Somewhat inspired by the Jesperi Kotkaniemi offer sheet saga with the obvious caveat that Kotkaniemi is nowhere close to being comparable as a player to Shane Hollander. But Montreal GMs have been known to make some very boneheaded decisions out of pride and spite…
