Rather as heir, dainty ornaments or even as a pawn for their fathers, there are certain things that are expected of a princess. Certain things that are to be obeyed, to be followed and to be respected. King Jaehaerys Targaryen expected that of his daughters, and expected just as much, if not more from his granddaughters. There were rules, traditions and the simple way of doing things that were to be followed, and Rhaenyra Targaryen managed to avoid each and every one, blissfully sheltered as the only and most cherished daughter of the Spring Prince.
However the gods are not kind and not even her father cannot shelter her forever, not when a succession crisis threatens to undo every last thread of her family's existence.

An Au were Rhaenyra is married to Jason Lannister and Shipped of to Casterly Rock, as a child bride. Rhaenyra is still the heir, but Viserys does nothing to uphold it like the idiot he is. Jason is a pompous ass-hole with strangely good morals, he does everything for his own benefit but it affects Rhaenyra positively, so who is she to complain. Daemon is causing chaos somewhere, he also has a two bastards he acknowledges, or something like that.
Or we follow Rhaenyra who accidentally gets politically savvy and gets allies in different parts of the realm, in a realm that is increasingly spinning towards a civil war.
