Summary
"Where does it go?" Varka's warm hands on his shoulders again, drawing him closer until he collides with heat and fabric and a strong, sturdy body beneath. Flins' eyes stay open. His gaze sticks to the azure of Varka's coat. "Where does all that hurt go, if we can't see it?"
Inside, he supposes. Inside his cold, aching chest, where his flames aren't enough to burn it away.
Finally, Flins shuts his eyes, fingers hooking in fabric, mouth pressed to Varka's shoulder behind layers of fabric. Fool, he thinks again, and imagines himself biting down. Varka has never seemed to know not to get so close.

Summary
“Varka.”
Varka is a hard man to surprise. He’d thought nothing could manage it anymore, but he supposes Flins is nothing if not an exception to his every rule.
The man stands in the wind, head tilted, bright eyes staring straight through Varka’s being.
“Flins,” Varka greets. “Gave me a bit of scare, didn’t you?”
“You look as though you’ve seen a ghost,” Flins says.
Varka wets his lips. “Haven’t I?”

Summary
Varka didn't want to pressure the fae. There was something different about Flins… something worth the wait. Especially now that peace was coating the kuuvahki that made Nod Krai the welcoming land it was. To Varka, Flins was a blindingly beautiful creature. That mischievous smile, the tired glint in those yellow eyes, the silken rise and fall of his voice, his soft purple hair and the curves of his body that remained well hidden under his thick coats. Everything about him was the definition of perfect to the grand master. Every passing day he was with the lightkeeper, the more infatuated he became. Varka could spend every waking moment with Flins for the rest of his mortal life and it still wouldn't be enough for the man.

Varka walks Flins back to his home after drinking one night at the Flag Ship. Flins offers him to stay with him that night instead of hiking all the way back to Nasha town. It was an offer the knight simply couldn't refuse.Bookmarked by ProfessionalMess

Flins only teases a little bit.

Summary
“I did not expect to see you work as the Starshyna’s messenger boy,” Varka said with a relaxed, almost all-knowing smile. “What happened to Illuga?”
“Nothing,” Flins said. “The Starshyna you might try to steal him away from the Ratniki. It is more appropriate if I come instead.”
Varka had to find something funny in Flins’s half-truth, laughing first and then tapping his chin pensively. “Is he not afraid of me trying to steal you away? I’ll say, it seems like his judgment isn’t as sharp as he’d want it to be.”
Varka was a very touch-oriented person. Always clapping shoulders, patting backs, or holding onto his friends’ arms when he laughed too hard. Flins wanted to feel that for himself.
But when he had it, it felt shallow. He missed the lingering touches, their feet playing under the table, their hands gravitating towards one another. He wanted Varka to hold him and never let go.
It was a lot to ask because Varka did not belong to the graveyard or to Nod-Krai. He belonged to his family back in Mondstadt, whom he had never spoken to Flins about.
Because for the first time, it was Flins who was temporary—not the other way around.

“Drink.”
No drink if you want. No give it a try, dandelion wine is the best. There was no room left for Flins to say no. And frankly, Flins didn’t want to say no anyway.
Flins took a natural sip from the glass; not too much, and not too little. Just enough for his throat to bobble and to draw Varka’s attention to it.
For the first time, he was close enough to what he wanted to hear. Varka might finally shape his movements, his choices, and Flins wanted it. He wanted to surrender his choices to Varka’s hands. He wanted it badly.
Varka was a very accommodating person. Always watching, always adjusting, so no one had to feel uncomfortable. Whether for the Knights or for his friends, he never changed.
Flins believed it was a beautiful thing. Humans were fragile and needed that coddling. But he was not human. He needed Varka to stop asking him what he wanted and to start giving him orders.

Summary
“Make me a promise,” Varka says.
It's the middle of the night, and he should be asleep, tucked against Flins’ front with the blanket wrapped around them both. Flins wonders what stirred him: the laughter of the patrons of the Flagship? The clinking of glasses, audible through two closed doors? Or maybe it was Flins’ own unnatural constitution: the coldness of his body where they're pressed skin to skin, or the stillness of his chest where no heart beats behind made up ribs?
“Anything,” Flins answers, and he means it.

“You consumed my food. You shared your name with me, and I mine. I held your taste in my mouth. By Fae law, we are now bound.”
“Bound?” Varka echoes, intelligently.
“Indeed.” Flins’s eyes of molten gold feel like a physical weight on him. “Forgive my bluntness, but I sense some confusion on your part. Perhaps you desired a human marriage?”
“Marriage?”

Summary
“Can you have a child with Uncle Flins?”
For a little while, sound reached him as if through layers of wool, and the only thing he could feel was akin to a blade piercing through his chest. Something in him folded inward, the same instinctive reflex he felt when he put out his light that one time, long ago. He did not move. Did not think. Did not speak.
Varka laughed again, too fast and too loud, a tone that went against all the natural laws of sound.
“That’s impossible,” Varka fixed the hat on Klee’s head, looking just as sad as she did. “Sorry, little spark.”
Varka invites Flins to the Windblume Festival without telling him that the festival is the most notorious courting ground in Mondstadt. Somehow, everyone already knows what they are to each other—except them.
