Summary
On the 4th of April, 2063, an eccentric human physicist named Zefram Cochrane would change history forever, when his Phoenix rises from the ashes of the post-nuclear horror, and breaks the light barrier without an ME field, Element-0, or any prothean influence at all.
For the salarians who discover what the humans have achieved, the new FTL drive and following achievements are opportunities for innovation, to improve their standing in the galaxy. And necessitates keeping humanity confined and in the dark, no matter how much they protest.
As the rest of the galaxy learns of humans, their unique FTL drives and power systems represent disruption, even destruction, of galactic norms. For some, it means new opportunities for growth and allyship. For others, it is a threat to the very structure of galactic society.
For humans, it is simply known as the Warp Effect.
