Sam exhaled to steady himself again. He did some mental calculations. “Okay. I need details. Where’d she shoot him, outside the cabin? Where’d the bullet hit? Head, body? When did it happen, exactly? I need to know everything.”
That nervous look fell from Tucker’s face again, this time disbelief sat in its place. “Sam…what the fuck are you talking about?”
Sam wanted to slap him, to wake Tucker up. John would have. Instead Sam charged forward and closed the three feet of distance between them, loudly clapping his hands right in front of Tucker’s face. “Hey!” he punctuated the clap with a shout. “Focus for a second and walk me through exactly what happened.”
OR
Sam is looking forward to spring break. Hiking, camping, relaxing with Jess and his friends sounds perfect. Until one of his friends has an accident, and comes to Sam looking for help. Maybe some of John Winchester's lessons could do some good after all...

Summary
Dean Winchester doesn’t have much in his life. Not his family, which has fractured since Sam left for college and John dumped him at Bobby’s. Not his job, which he can’t do because he broke his leg hunting. And no real future. But what he does have is a GED, a give -’em hell attitude, and a project when a car that mysterious looks like the ‘67 Impala he once owned shows up in Bobby’s scrapyard. He can’t fix much else in his life, but he can fix this.

Adam's mother got killed by a ghoul in 2004. John decided the best way to keep his youngest son safe was to drag him along his hunting crusade.
A year later, Adam only wanted to make Dean proud but the looming shadow of Sam Winchester made that very hard. He was slowly crafting out his own space in Dean's heart when Sam called after four years of no contact.(Mature rating is because this is very twisted and emotionally improper at times. You know, classic samdean codependency. Adam having his own issues because of that. You know the drill.)

(OR: You know how Dean Winchester is an autodidact who built an EMF machine out of a Walkman, got his GED just because, knows the difference and nuances in Vonnegut's works, is good at strategy and LARPs, easily references Tolstoy and ancient Greek fables, has a favorite Zeppelin song that's about a book, and has a huge pop culture knowledge base because he soaks up everything like a sponge? Me too. And you know how Supernatural usually wants us to pretend that's not true? Yeah ... how about fuck that?
A #DeanStudies fic that proposes Dean has an interior life, a brain in his head, and the urge to do better. Oh and, of course, it fixes the finale!)
