Summary
Obi-Wan was chosen by Qui-Gon to be his Padawan at twelve years old. A year later, Qui-Gon returns from a mission with a thirteen year old Anakin. Qui-Gon is sure the boy is the Chosen One from the Jedi prophecy and hopes to train the boy to be a Jedi knight. The council refuses on the basis of his age, but recognizes Anakin's mechanical skills and offers him a position as a temple technician. Qui-Gon continues to train Obi-Wan in the ways of the Jedi, but begins to include Anakin in some of their lessons. Obi-Wan's insecurities fester as he grows unsure of his place as Qui-Gon's padawan.

Suddenly, as Dooku lifted his arms, a chain of glowing red links appeared, spiraling up from the floor to wrap around Dooku’s body. Shackles clanged shut around his wrists, a heavy collar settled around his neck.
“I wear the chain I forged in life,” Dooku continued, the links rattling as he spoke. “The shackles of the dark side.” The force rang with his words.
“But there is a chance, yet, for you to escape my fate,” Dooku continued, heedless of Anakin’s distress. “Tonight you will be visited by three spirits. Heed their words, without them you cannot hope to shun the path I tread.”
