Summary
Between the Port Mafia's awe of Dazai's intellect and Takechi's admiration of the same, Ranpo is feeling offended that Dazai is getting all the attention in what is traditionally Ranpo's sphere.
Ranpo initiates a competition, a battle of wits between the two to prove who is smarter, but doesn't realize that Dazai might be playing a completely different game.
Excerpt:
As Dazai strolled into the bullpen Monday morning, twenty minutes late as usual, the rest of the detectives were already at their desks, working away, sporting various degrees of Monday morning face or demeanor and, in many cases, drinking coffee as though it were the only way to stave off the apocalypse.
Dazai smiled at the universality of the working condition as he paced lightly to the side table holding the coffeemaker and placed a large box on it.
“I brought pastries,” he said to the room in general, and turned toward the coatrack.

Summary
In #72 (It's Not A Joint Mission), the ADA borrowed Chuuya to go undercover in a pop idol contest, in order to plant bugs in a meeting between an information broker and a government minister. Two stories later, in #74 (Maybe Someday), the information broker, impressed by Dazai's planning skills, offered Dazai his choice of jobs. Dazai turned down the full-time job offer, since he is committed to the ADA for the foreseeable future, but he accepted the offer to overhaul Takechi's security procedures.
Excerpt:
Dazai finished tying his shoes and rose. “I’ll call when I’m on the way home and see if you want me to pick something up.”
Chuuya glanced back at the coffee table, where Dazai’s cell phone rested. He turned back to Dazai. “Got your phone?”
“I do.” Dazai smiled and drew a burner phone half out of his pocket, then slid it back in. He bent and kissed Chuuya goodbye. “Have fun,” he said.
“You, too,” Chuuya said.
“Oh, count on it,” Dazai replied with a wink, and left the apartment, pulling the door closed behind him.

Summary
Dazai and Chuuya participate in normal-people activities, which are quite special to them, having led such wildly abnormal lives up to now. They take down their Christmas decorations. And make a New Year's decoration. And invite Atsushi and Kyouka over to make a New Year's decoration too. And I can only conclude that Atsushi has decided he wants to be Chuuya when he grows up.
Excerpt:
“So I was thinking, if we have free time, it might be nice to try another normal-people thing this afternoon.”
Chuuya threaded his arm through Dazai’s, heart thumping with eagerness. Despite the fact that he had lived so much more life since they were fifteen than Dazai had, he still didn’t think of himself as normal or, often, human. Doing so-called ‘normal’ things with Dazai went a long way toward making him feel like an ordinary human being. “Sounds good to me,” he said a little breathlessly. “Got something specific in mind?”

Chuuya toweled his hair and wrapped the towel around his neck. He combed his hair carefully and then gently toweled it once more to fluff it. He tossed the towel into the hamper, applied deodorant, and dressed in his black slacks and white shirt.
He opened the bathroom door and stared straight into the wall of his husband’s chest. His gaze travelled upward.
“What the fuck?” he asked mildly.
Dazai gave him that devilish smile that foretold no good, and sang, “Why Chuuya, thank you!” He leaned down and kissed Chuuya thoroughly.
As he withdrew, standing upright with a smirk, Chuuya looked up at him, dazed. “And what prompted that?” he asked, bewildered.
As if it were obvious, Dazai said, “You were standing under the mistletoe.”

Summary
This story wraps up the arc that began with It's Not A Joint Mission, in which Chuuya went undercover in the Yokohama Pop Idol competition in order to bug a meeting between a minister and an information broker.
Dazai and Chuuya discuss decommissioning Chuuya's cover identity, and Dazai gets whisked away for a private meeting with the information broker.
Excerpt:
Dazai lowered himself comfortably into the corner of the sofa, one long leg stretched out along the back of the seat and the other on the floor. Chuuya settled himself between his husband’s legs and lay back against his chest, and as Dazai wrapped his arms around Chuuya’s waist, Chuuya folded his own arms over Dazai’s, hands loosely gripping his husband’s forearms. Dazai planted a kiss on the top of Chuuya’s head and relaxed.
“Hm,” Dazai said thoughtfully. “In the spirit of full disclosure, I should probably let you know how I’m handling Kousei.”
“Do you have to?” Chuuya asked lazily. “How much am I gonna hate it?”

Summary
For my Soukoku, Dazai and Chuuya have a healthy relationship. When they first met, they got off on the wrong foot, and while they became attracted to each other very quickly, neither even allowed themselves to realize it, as their subconscious was trying to protect them from rejection and they disguised their feelings as antipathy. Once they reunited in the Port Mafia's prison, they recognized their long-suppressed feelings, and so they no longer had a reason to fight (in their personal lives).
So if you're into the kind of Soukoku where they have a very unhealthy, destructive relationship - the whole I hate you but I want you - you will NOT find it here.
This series is basically slice-of-life. It begins in the Port Mafia's prison, and because that goes differently, I diverge from canon fairly quickly afterward. Think of it as the butterfly effect. Changing Dazai & Chuuya's dynamic ends up affecting broader events to create an alternate timeline. So most things from chronologically subsequent arcs won't occur in this divergence.

Requirements?
A hand comes to his chin, and he hums thoughtfully. Surely, he could do it. It didn't seem all that complicated. If the “requirement” were self-imposed, then that means only Dazai would know the key to return to being human. So, technically, he can make the requirement something entirely easy, and he’d return to himself in no time.
An idea lights up in his mind, and a slow grin creeps on his lips. The little tickle in his stomach suddenly makes him giddy. The sparkle in his eye told him that he had just found his entertainment for the rest of the day. He surely had too much time on his hands. And this just gave him more of an excuse to annoy a certain raging redhead, and they’d be none the wiser. No one would know. He’d be able to deny all of it and say it wasn't him.
Dazai starts to chuckle like a gremlin in the dark.
