Summary
Still the Echoes Give Us Light by DoctorTrekkie has many wonderful things about it. From riveting stories to tearjerking moments, it is a wonderful fanfic. But my favorite parts are the characters.

“He was right next to me, I don’t know where he could have wandered off to. I swear, this boy doesn’t know how to sit still,” the mother said, wringing her hands. William almost rolled his eyes. “I know he wanted to watch the animatronics earlier, but he’s nowhere near the stage and I can’t find him anywhere else.”
“Nancy, be sure to announce the lost child on stage for the poor mother,” William said, turning to his employee.
“Alright, sir. And, uh, what did you say your son’s name was again?” Nancy asked.
“Jeremy. Jeremy Fitzgerald.” William almost laughed.

The thought clattered in his mind as he reluctantly uncurled from his sleeping position. It didn’t suit someone of his station- a king shouldn’t be so feeble, so anxious, especially over a plan he himself hatched.
The Pale King shuddered.
His scales itched and he desperately wished to go back to sleep. If he could avoid this dreadful responsibility for even one more day, he would be a very happy higher being. He couldn’t, of course. Too much depended on his presence, he had to be there when the eggs hatched and he had to light the way for them.
If everything worked, only his light would guide those mindless, soulless vessels to move.________________

Summary
Things… change.
Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.
Ghost goes back in time, kills the Radiance, and sets everything right. They tell no one, and do it on their own. It is only after their family is happy, and the kingdom is safe, and the Abyss is soothed to sleep, that they realize just how lonely it is as the last remaining piece of a future never to be.
